Abstract

It is pertinent to begin this book by reviewing the vertiginous progress that information technologies have had in just a few years, a phenomenon that is comparable to the industrial revolution that took place some two centuries ago. In the case of information technologies, the term revolution is used because there was a very rapid advance in the capacity of computers and also in all the elements that surround them.
