Abstract

This chapter depicts the laser damage threshold (LDT) of nonlinear optical crystal to determine their resilience under high intensity laser exposure. It also establishes the various LDT values at different laser fluences, essential for safe usage in optical applications. The experimental setup involves Nd:YAG laser
setup where crystals are exposed to various pulses of different intensities and the threshold limit is established by detecting the fluence levels that result in structural damage. The results help in the material selection for high power laser systems by providing information about durability and crystal performance.
