IMMUNE RESPONSE TO COVID-19 INFECTION

Corona viruses are diverse group of viruses belonging to the order Nidovirales and family Coronaviridae. In 2002, there was an outbreak of a virus with pneumonia-like symptoms. The virus that causes that illness is Systemic Acute Respiratory Syndrome Corona virus (SARS-Cov), which belongs to the genus β-Corona virus and was believed to have originated from bats. Later on in 2003, the outbreak of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Corona virus (MERS-Cov) had been experienced. MERSCov originated from camels. In December, 2019, there was an outbreak of Systemic Acute Respiratory Syndrome Corona virus type-2 (SARS-Cov-2) in Wuhan province, China. The virus causes a disease known as Corona Virus Disease-19 (COVID-19).
